We specialize in yoga for children with Autism, ADHD, and Anxiety.
The Yoga Rocks Kids™ Program integrates scientific principles and yoga techniques to counteract the various stressors that interfere with optimal learning and success in school and in life.
The curriculum consists of core movements and sequences to develop physical and mental strength, enhance the brain, create a positive attitude and a calm mind, and increase self-esteem ending with a special Yoga Showcase during the month of June.
THE YOGA ROCKS METHOD™
The focus of the Yoga Rocks Kids™ Program is The Yoga Rocks Method™ that includes important learning skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, observation, experimentation, and reflection. It incorporates the use of specific sequences that achieve a desired outcome. Students will use a journal (the Yoga Rocks Kids Journal™) to write and/or illustrate how they feel before and after their yoga experience.
The Yoga Rocks Mommy & Me Toddler Program (18-36 mos) develops body awareness, language, good listening skills, cooperation and observation skills. It teaches young children about nature, their environment and inspires their imaginations. It prepares them for breathing techniques used in yoga. They learn by playing, singing, moving and imitating. This is an ideal time for children to begin a yoga practice.
Yoga Rocks Kids (3-7 yrs) balances quiet and active poses with game playing, songs, YogArt, simple breathing exercises, meditations and rest. Children can easily follow the teacher’s instructions by learning the names of different yoga poses and movements. They can use their yoga poses to play games, take on the qualities of different animals or use their imaginations to make up stories about animals on a farm, climbing a mountain or trekking through a jungle. They can each assume the role of leader and teach their classmates a yoga posture or breathing exercise. Their yoga improves very quickly.
In Yoga Rocks Tweens (8-12 yrs) & Teens (13-17 yrs) students will learn about anatomy and physiology in greater depth. We discuss how muscles and joints allow bones to move; how yoga and meditation affect digestion, immune and neurological functions and the nervous and glandular systems; how yoga and meditation can help them study for exams and cope with the stress and pressures of daily life. The classes are physically challenging and provide a complete workout for developing bodies.
